The problem is getting both Holland & Blashill away from this organization, and allowing these kids to shine, rather than continue to overpay for useless players & older veterans to take up their ice time.

Holland can't leave fast enough, before completely ruining the franchise.

Detroit is gonna have some rough years ahead of them. Especially when Zetterberg wont finish his term with the club.

25 years straight of playoffs. It was inevitable this would happen to their franchise eventually. Going to be rough for Wings and their fans the next 5+ years, something they aren't used to experiencing.

But no sympathy here though, cause I've gone through that basically my whole life.

I said "recent" drafting, Nyqvist was drafted ten years ago, Tatar eight years ago. Holland has the mentality that it's compete or bust, that's a franchise killer. Gotta rebuild through the draft with high picks because it's unlikely you'll pull a Datsyuk or Zetterberg out of the later rounds like the days of old. Most organizations are much better at sourcing out those players now. The world isn't as big as it used to be.

They had the foresight to take some long shots on guys that turned out to be HHOF players, Fedorov, Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Hell they got Lidstrom in the third round in 89. It was a helluva run but those days are over.

I'm in my 50's son, I've been watching hockey a long time outside of our market.
